Legal Fellows Program
Workday is seeking highly motivated Interns and Fellows, rising second-year and part-time law students entering their final year, to join our Legal, Compliance and Corporate Affairs team ("LCCA") in an exciting new in-house legal pipeline program that offers an exciting direct track from law school to an in-house legal career in the technology industry. We highly value diversity and strongly encourage traditionally under-represented law students to apply.
Workday's program is comprised of two phases:
LEGAL INTERNS: In the first phase, Workday Legal Interns will have the opportunity to join Workday's LCCA team at its headquarters in Pleasanton, California for a 12- week legal internship, between May and August, where they will gain real-world experience and mentorship from legal industry experts across a diverse range of practice areas and experience.
LEGAL FELLOWS:
Upon successful completion of the first phase, Workday Legal Interns may be offered an opportunity to rejoin our LCCA team in Pleasanton, California as a Workday Legal Fellow. Following law school graduation, Interns who are offered a Fellowship will have the chance to participate in an 18-month rotational program where they will contribute to and learn from LCCA teams across multiple practice groups, such as:

Go-to-Market Legal
Legal & Regulatory Affairs
Privacy Legal
And many others!

About the Role First Phase - Workday Summer Legal Intern
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in-house attorneys with legal matters in a variety of areas including commercial and technology transactions, intellectual property, corporate governance, strategic alliances, privacy, cybersecurity, litigation and dispute resolution, and employment law.
- Assist with contract processing (generating contracts from templates, reviewing and responding to requested edits, and preparing documents for signature).
- Interpret and summarize terms and conditions of existing contracts.
- Assist in-house attorneys in advising product, marketing, and engineering teams on legal issues related to new and existing product development and technology innovations.
- Conduct legal research, analyze business impact and legal risk, and prepare memoranda.
- Become acquainted with legal department business processes and highlight opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Second Phase: Workday Rotational Fellows Program
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with various parts of the organization to understand the strategic needs and goals of the business.
- Provide legal support specific to the needs of the LCCA teams you'll be working with during each of three (3) six-month rotation periods.
About You Basic Qualifications For First Phase - Workday Summer Legal Intern
- Currently enrolled as a rising 2L or part-time J.D. candidate entering your final year of law school at an ABA-accredited law school.
- Must be in good academic standing, maintain student status throughout the duration of the internship, and plan to return for the 18-month rotational fellowship (see below) upon graduation from law school.
- Available for 12 weeks during Summer 2025 and willing to be based in Pleasanton, CA during this period.

- Outstanding organizational skills with ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, high-output, team-oriented environment.
- Supports business needs with strategic focus, critical thinking and problem-solving approach.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to summarize and present key takeaways for management.
- Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities with a positive attitude.
- Excellent analytical ability and legal drafting skills.
- Strong teammate with ability to build internal and external relationships, and to collaborate regularly with cross-functional networks.
- Ability to research and learn new concepts and legal issues quickly.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Basic Qualifications For Second Phase Workday Rotational Phase
- Successful completion of the Workday 2L Summer Legal Internship.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Willing to be based in Pleasanton, CA for the entire 18-month rotation program.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
